Speedwatch

In 2023, we updated our speed monitoring signs to solar powered, 24hr monitoring units in both directions through the village.  As monitoring is now constant, the size of the data files are too large to publish on the website.

 

However, the signs have had a positive effect on the average speed of traffic through the village.  In the 30mph area, the monthly average speed is 32mph and in the 40mph zone, the monthly average speed is 44mph.

Although this is slightly higher than the permitted road speed, it is within the Suffolk policing tolerance.

 

We are aware that this is an average reading, which means there are a number of drivers above the limit, but the average speed is encouraging.  Prior to the new signs, the average speed was 10%-15% higher than the current averages.

 

The parish council will continue to monitor the traffic speeds.
